SIP return (XIRR) assumes a monthly SIP of the chosen amount on the 1st of each month (or the next day with a NAV) for the chosen period, valued at the latest NAV. Lump sum return is absolute for 1 year and annualised (CAGR) for longer periods. Since launch means since the first NAV available on this site (April 2006 for Regular plans, generally January 2013 for Direct plans, or the fund’s launch if later); funds with different start dates are not directly comparable, so check the Data since column. A dash (-) means data is not available for that period (the fund may be newer, or its history may have been restarted after a rename or transfer). The table is sorted alphabetically by default; you can sort by any column. This information is for general reference only and is not a recommendation. Data source: AMFI. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme related documents carefully. Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.
Understanding Mutual Fund returns: Trailing vs Rolling returns
When analyzing mutual fund returns, it is important not to rely solely on trailing (point-to-point) numbers, as they can be heavily influenced by recent market conditions:
- Trailing Returns: Measure performance from a specific past date to today (e.g., last 1 year or 3 years). Useful for quick snapshots, but sensitive to short-term market peaks or dips.
- Rolling Returns: Measure performance across multiple overlapping cycles (e.g., rolling 3-year blocks over a decade). This gives a much more reliable picture of consistency.
- Category Averages: Always compare an individual fund’s performance against its category benchmark rather than comparing a Large Cap fund to a Small Cap fund.
Category classification and performance benchmarks follow official standards mandated by AMFI and SEBI.
